Singapore Airlines and the 241 Passport App

People always ask me my favourite spots to visit and are often taken aback when I say Singapore is one of them. I think most expect me to say London or Paris but I have a very special fondness for this Asian city. Singapore has museums, fun attractions( they seem to constantly invent more ), great local transport, incredible food and such diversity of cuisines and endless shopping. It’s a terrific holiday spot and I couldn’t recommend it enough. So when the city decides to make it easier and more accessible to  holiday there, it’s definitely worth talking about.

I was in Singapore all of last week enjoying everything it has to offer at an incredible over all discount. Singapore Airlines ( which I’ve never had a thing to complain about) in association with the Singapore Tourism Board has launched a special two -to -go package all month long till the 31st of July where if you book a ticket to Singapore, you get a wonderful discount on a ticket for your companion and a free version of a local app called 241 Passport App. At first I thought it strange and slightly confusing I mean what does an app have to do with a visit to Singapore but it’s only once I got there and experienced it did I notice the difference. The 241 Passport App is available in most cities that the airline flies to but this specific offer is for Singapore and it allows you some great discounts and one plus one free offers at various boutiques, restaurants, cafes, excursions and even spas which quite frankly is great because this a great offer specially when you’re travelling with someone.

Through this app I managed to enjoy a lovely tea session at an extraordinary tea room called Arteastiq that allows you to enjoy an art session where you can paint while you enjoy your tea as well. I skipped the art class and just devoured their food an incredible teas including a lovely pomelo tea and a lychee tea.

The app offers a 20%  discount on the river cruise that starts at the popular Clarke Quay which is always full of life specially at night. The river cruise is a great way to see Singapore at sunset and then as all the lights come on and it glitters and sparkles. Boat Quay, Marina Bay Sands, The Merlion, The Fullerton Hotel and plenty other attractions along the way.

One of the highlights of this app is that it’s included a restaurant at Singapore’s iconic Raffles Hotel. This is such an exclusive hotel that they don’t allow you into their main lobby and parts of their hotel unless you are a resident guest! It’s famous for their Long Bar and Singapore Sling and it’s just gorgeous to visit. Their restaurant Halia which means ginger is a relaxed casual spot that dishes out beautiful food. The signature Halia Singapore Chilli Crab Spaghetti and the Halia Ginger parfait are the highlights but again, thanks to the app you get a free main course when you order one main course. So if you’re two people that’s 4 courses for the price of 2 ! It helps that they’re extremely generous with their portion size.

If you know me, then you know I’m a complete spa junkie so when I learnt that this app offers a one plus one free spa session I just had to indulge! Aramsa spa is a pretty spot surrounded by greenery with the most incredible therapists. One hour here and you’ll feel rejuvenated ready to take on Singapore once again.

I’ve been to Singapore before but it’s full of restaurants and cafes and new things and is almost impossible to experience it all. The plus point is that everything on this app is stuff that isn’t just touristy but great for locals as well. It also helped me see a different side to Singapore and visit places I hadn’t before. It’s also quite user friendly, just download the app, follow the instructions and every time you want to use a voucher a code gets punched in by that respective restaurant and voila ! This app is clearly about strength in numbers so with you and a companion, there’s a lot of freebies to enjoy.
